Oh, application season…it’s nearly upon us again! For those of you that haven’t been following my blog, I’m currently preparing for my session, which is Spring 2019 in Merchandise! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and I'd be happy to help however I can. :)

  1. 1. Make sure you provide a variety of answers in the “work experience” portion. You are able to have up to five answers, and it’s ok to put volunteer experience too! I provided three job experiences, plus I talked about being on the leadership team for my university’s marching band.

  2. Elaborate! When the application asks about your role and duties, don’t be afraid to be specific or write more. I wrote a couple sentences on mine. Something you happen to expand on could end up being a standout to the recruiters.

  3. Research the roles before you apply! It really helped me to read descriptions to determine what would and wouldn’t be a good fit.

  4. Only put interest in the roles you are actually interested in. If you’re only interested in three roles, select those three roles. DCP isn’t worth going down and being miserable in Florida for four to eight months. It also is pretty annoying when people get on Facebook and complain about getting in for roles they hate.

  5. Read the questions carefully. This is especially important in the selection of terms. Spring is typically January/early February-May, and Spring Advantage is January-August. If you know you have a conflict in July, it’s best to put spring as your first choice.

  6. Be honest. No elaboration required.

  7. Don’t be afraid to read over your app to catch any mistakes, but also don’t overthink it! I know that’s kind of an oxymoron, but it’s not good to quickly submit it and it’s not good to spend days agonizing over it either.

Good luck! May the pixie dust be ever in your favor!
